Before adopting this solution, our team struggled with a complex reporting process. Generating field engineer site visit reports from Microsoft Dynamics Field Services was a constant challenge due to a combination of rigid requirements and data limitations.
The main challenges that slowed down our workflow included:

To add another layer of complication, the reporting tools became difficult to integrate because the JSON input from Dynamics was presented in a raw, unformatted manner that was not associated with any of the reports we wished to create.
These complexities not only added time, but they also added some friction in trying to integrate with some other extremely important business tools. We needed a solution that didn't just generate documents but intelligently managed the entire workflow.
To address those challenges and to take control of the full document lifecycle, we adopted a centralized reporting strategy.
Our implementation is built on Power Automate flows, and the Plumsail connector for this solution helps us integrate both tools seamlessly. Rather than being limited to a simple generation engine as we previously had aimed for, we gained the capability to also manage the entire document workflow, from data input to delivery of the final file. This control now includes advanced features like reporting logic, dynamic data mapping, and support for multiple document formats.

We were also able to build in advanced translation features like the map function within the templates, which allows the dynamic data coming directly from the raw JSON input to be accurately translated and reflected in the final document.
The overall result is a powerful platform that is fully capable of meeting our current and future needs.
